How might we create a behaviour changing app that delivers control?

Our first initial question was to define what we believe control is and whether we ever really have it? We looked at the idea of control in our personal and professional lives together and found that this appears to be a balancing act that can be tough to master.

The most logical place to start was looking at ourselves and being honest with how we attempt to balance our own. How do we enjoy our private lives without compromising our mental health or state of mind whilst working or studying?

Our thought process began with questioning if there is a specific demographic that could potentially feel the pressures of this more so than others. Are they at different stage of their lives? Our initial thought was that this specific demographic could be a person between the ages of 25–40; who perhaps has a career or a steady job that can afford them to have an active social life. We did this by conducting a screener survey posing a series of questions to see if the participants confirmed or validated our believes.

Believes and hypothesis:

  • That most people have had previous experience of studying and having a social life but struggle to achieve this now with added pressures

  • This type of person doesn’t have the ability to say no to any event

  • This person over spreads themselves and cannot figure out why they do it

  • Needs help balancing what’s important with what isn’t
